On a rainy day in 1891, a physical education teacher by the name of Dr. James Naismith thought up a new indoor sport to entertain his students at the YMCA. He gave the kids a ball, nailed a peach basket to the wall and the rest, as they say, is history. Little did he know that this new sport he called basketball would become a national obsession. The four rotating images of our basketball checks celebrate the game with vivid photographs of the traditional wood court, a waiting ref, a bin of basketballs and a perfectly sunk basket.
